Chapman Corporation has been active in meeting the turnkey construction needs of our clients in the natural gas industry for over 10 years. However, more recently, we have been performing a major role with the Marcellus Shale development. Critical to this role is our centralized location within the Marcellus in Washington, PA.
For over 65 years, we have built a reputation for on-time, cost-effective project completion with quality, safety and service foremost in our mind. We are assisting with the midstream and transmission sectors of the natural gas industry at greenfield and existing sites which are undergoing expansion plans.
The key to our success is that we provide a wide range of services: Civil/Site Work – Excavation, Foundations, Slabs, Steel Erection, Pre-Fabricated Buildings and Tanks Mechanical – Compressors, Piping, Pumps, Separators, Manifolds, Launchers and Receivers, Equipment Setting, HVAC Electrical – Substations; Distribution and Motor Control Centers; High Voltage Installation; Instrumentation; and Lighting and Emergency Power Systems Fabrication – Pipe Welding in Our Shop or the Field; Sandblasting; Painting; Pre-Fabricated Piping Assemblies and Skids; and Ductwork
We are working with engineering and energy companies as well as equipment manufacturers from throughout the country. Chapman Corporation has working relationships with a variety of unions consisting of ironworkers, millwrights, pipefitters, boilermakers, electricians, carpenters, operators and laborers.
We are a participating member of both Veriforce and ISNetworld.
Areas served include:
- Cryogenic processing facilities sized from 30MM temporary to 120MM permanent;
- Gathering compressor stations for Marcellus gas wells;
- Various upgrades to DOT192 standards to many differing facilities and infrastructure allowing for projected Marcellus gas volumes;
- Fabrication of various skids, valve sets, metering stations, hot taps, launchers, receivers, etc.
Processing Plants: Dismantling, relocation and installation of a leased-temporary 40MM cryogenic processing facility from Michigan to a site in Western Pennsylvania. We later dismantled the temporary plant after constructing the permanent plant.
Greenfield installation of three new 120MM cryogenic processing facilities, depropanizer facilities and fractionation processes. NGL tank farm installations including foundations, setting of tanks from 10,000 to 120,000 gallons, piping and E&I work associated with operating of these tanks. Truck NGL unloading and loading facilities.
Gathering: Multiple turnkey gathering compressor stations averaging over 5000HP each at 40MMSCFD.
Civil/mechanical/electrical upgrades to existing gathering compressor stations under operating conditions including building expansions, HVAC enhancements or control upgrades.
Fabrication of piping skids, launchers/receivers, metering skids for installation by the Owner and / or others.
Greenfield construction of new Metering and Regulating stations for various pipeline contractors to allow for distribution of Marcellus gas to various transmission clients.
Transmission: Multiple 4000+ HP compressor additions, both electric and gas driven, including required civil structures, mechanical and electrical tie-ins and site upgrades.
Addition of launcher / receivers to existing 12” to 36” high volume high pressure lines to allow movement of Marcellus gas.
Valve set(s) fabrication and installation to allow for new customer tap-ins, fabrication and installation of various 'pigable' Y's and tie-ins, hot tap tie-in fabrication and E&I upgrades to allow for monitoring of higher volumes and differing characteristics of Marcellus Shale gas.
Shop Fabrication: Our fabrication shops are capable of handling carbon and stainless steel, alloy 20, aluminum, chrome-moly and nickel based pipe in sizes ranging from ½ inch to 42” in diameter with wall thicknesses from 1/16 to 2”.
We fabricate both within our shops and on-site. We also perform finish painting and coating where applicable within our shop facilities. We maintain indoor sandblasting and painting facilities and are experienced in all industrial coatings such as zinc primers, epoxies and urethanes.
Our capabilities also extend to the fabrication and assembly of custom skid modules of all types and sizes.
We are a coded shop and hold ASME “PP”, “U” and “S” stamps, along with the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors' “R” stamp.
Our shop workforce utilizes Shielded Metal, MIG and TIG weld processes and our shop procedures were “Destructively Tested” with results acceptable to both ASME and APE 1104. Our field workforce utilizes both “Uphill” and “Downhill” weld processes depending on project specifications and requirements. Weld procedures are qualified routinely for carbon, stainless and nickel based alloys and dissimilar welds.
Our shop maintains all documentation as to traceability, weld logs, maps, inspection reports, NDE reports and records of welder qualification training. We also perform high pressure testing to DOT 192 standards in house.
